  1. These pictures are offered as a free information service.  They are
  2. here for individuals to use, but please do not redistribute them
  3. without contacting me first.

  5. The collection is still growing, and we're trying to get better
  6. quality pictures.  I expect it to take several months before the
  7. archive is really in shape.  If you access them through WWW at
  8. "http://www.actwin.com/fish", they are indexed by scientific name,
  9. common name and type of fish, and have the photo credits attached.
  10. This is the preferred way for people to view these pictures.

  15. These are either taken by Mark Rosenstein or Jaison Laird on video,
  16. and are either of our aquariums or from the Boston pet stores Big
  17. Fish, Little Fish and Boston Pet Center.  They were shot on Hi-8
  18. video, digitized, then retouched in photoshop.  The color balance may
  19. seem off because I've found that different platforms (i.e. Macs and
  20. Unix) display them very differently.  I'm working on some ways to
  21. improve the quality, though I want to keep the images small so that
  22. they can be downloaded quickly.
